Mexico City stole my heart. This is everything from our four days there — the sunrise balloon ride, the museums, the wild nights, and every taco stop that made the trip. Steal it for your own CDMX trip!
🎈 Start With the Balloon
We kicked things off before sunrise with a hot air balloon flight over the Teotihuacán pyramids, paired with a visit to La Gruta and the ruins themselves. It’s an early alarm, but the pyramids from above are unreal — worth every minute of lost sleep.
🎨 Frida Kahlo’s House
Museo Frida Kahlo (the Casa Azul) was next. Book tickets ahead — they sell out fast in high season, especially if you’re visiting during a busy month.
🤼 A Wild Night at Arena México
Lucha Libre and tequila made for one of the loudest, most chaotic, most fun nights of the trip. Great pick whether you’re traveling as a couple, solo, or in a group.
🏰 Chapultepec Castle + Parque de Chapultepec
A must-see. Pair the castle with the Anthropology Museum right next door — easy to fit both into one afternoon, with the park itself worth wandering afterward.
🚶 Historic Downtown, on Foot
We closed things out with a walk through the Zócalo, past Bellas Artes, and through the Historic Downtown — the best way to get to know the historic city on foot.
🌮 Where We Ate
• Tacos La Bonvi and Maizajo — two of the best taco stops in the city
• Mercado 89 in Coyoacán — a market worth an afternoon on its own
• La Casa de Las Sirenas and Pazzezca Pizzería — our favorite sit-down meals
🍹 Where We Drank
• Midnight Monkey — a great little jazz bar
• Salon Palomilla, El Ayer, and Sala de Despecho — all worth a night out, whether you’re after live music or just people-watching
• Toledo Rooftop — save this one for golden hour
🚶♀️ And Just Walking Around CDMX
Some of our favorite moments weren’t on any itinerary — just wandering La Roma, taking in the architecture and the neighborhood feel.
Save this for your CDMX trip, and let me know if you find somewhere even better — I’m always adding to the list. Follow along at @viabergit for more.
